Muslim Cheerful Husband!!

Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: By Allah, I saw the Prophet standing at the door of my room while the Abyssinians were playing with spears in the mosque. The Messenger of Allah was covering me with his cloak so I could watch their play, between his ear and shoulder. Then he would stay there for my sake until I was the one who decided to leave. Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

She also said, may Allah be pleased with her: The Messenger of Allah said to me: “I know when you are pleased with me and when you are angry with me!” I asked, “How do you know that?!” He said: “When you are pleased, you say: ‘No, by the Lord of Muhammad.’ And when you are angry, you say: ‘No, by the Lord of Ibrahim.'” She said: “Yes, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I only avoid your name.” Agreed upon [Bukhari and Muslim].

And she said, may Allah be pleased with her: She was with the Messenger of Allah on a journey when she was young. She said: “I hadn’t gained weight yet.” He said to his companions: “Go ahead,” so they went ahead. Then he said to me: “Come, let me race you!” So I raced him and beat him on foot. Later on – and in another narration: he didn’t mention it again until after I had gained weight and forgotten about it – I went out with him on a journey and he said to his companions: “Go ahead,” then he said: “Come, let me race you,” and I had forgotten what happened before, as I had gained weight. I said, “How can I race you, O Messenger of Allah, when I am in this condition?!” He said “You must,” so I raced him and he beat me. He started laughing and said: “This is for that previous race.” Narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud and others.

Perhaps the Prophet wanted through this race to teach spouses the benefit of enjoying each other’s company, so they engage together in some activities and innocent entertainment. Marriage should not always be serious, as that would make it boring and feel like a restriction!

Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: I smeared “Sawda’s” face with porridge and Sawda smeared Aisha’s face, and the Messenger of Allah laughed.

“The Messenger of Allah used to bathe with his wife from the same container.” Narrated by Bukhari.
